Celebratory Senate session on the occasion of the Celebration of Hungarian Science

At the celebratory Senate session of the University of Pécs on the occasion of the Celebration of Hungarian Science, three new honorary doctors were introduced: Valéria Csépe, professor of psychology, Antonino Germano, professor of neurosurgery and Hugh Sherman, professor of economics. The University Memorial Rings, Professor Emeritus titles, Honorary Associate Professor titles, Pro Doctorandis Universitatis Quinqueecclesiensis Awards and Talent Center awards were also handed over during the event. Sixty-five people received PhD and two people received DLA degrees.

Dr. Attila Miseta, rector, highlighted in his speech that the circle of honorary doctors of the University of Pécs has expanded with three distinguished scientists. The head of the university emphasized that every effort is made in order to maintain an even more intensive and close relationship with the honorary doctors of the University of Pécs.

The Senate of the University of Pécs awarded the university’s gold memorial ring in recognition of his outstanding leadership activity as Vice Rector for Science and Innovation at the University of Pécs between 2014 and 2018 to Professor Kálmán Tóth, director of the 1st Department of Internal Medicine.

14 people received the University of Pécs Talent Center Young Excellence award in the framework of the 2019 Higher Education Institutional Excellence Program, among whom 11 researchers are from the Medical School (UP MS) and the Clinical Center (UP CC):

  • Ferenc Boldizsár, associate professor at the UP MS Department of Immunology and Biotechnology
  • Gergely Darnai, postdoctoral fellow at the UP CC Department of Neurology
  • Péter Engelmann, associate professor at the UP MS Department of Immunology and Biotechnology
  • Balázs Gaszner, associate professor at the UP MS Department of Anatomy
  • Csaba Hetényi, associate professor at the UP MS Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy
  • Krisztina Kovács, associate professor at the UP MS Department of Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry
  • Tamás Kovács-Öller, research associate professor at the UP Faculty of Sciences Institute of Biology
  • Kristóf László, associate professor at the UP MS Institute of Physiology
  • Ádám Schiffer, associate professor at the UP Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Institute of Information and Electrical Technology
  • Tamás Sebestyén, associate professor at the UP Faculty of Business and Economics Department of Economics and Econometrics
  • Andrea Tamás, associate professor at the UP MS Department of Anatomy
  • Arnold Tóth, resident at the UP CC Department of Radiology
  • György Tóth, senior lecturer at the UP Faculty of Sciences Institute of Physics
  • Péter Tóth, resident at the UP CC Department of Neurosurgery

Based on their successful defence, the Senate of the University of Pécs awarded the following students a PhD degree.

In the field of health sciences:

  • Zoltán László, specialist at the Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital
  • Zoltán Patonai, clinical doctor at the UP Clinical Center

In the field of medicine:

  • Dániel Bányai, senior lecturer at the UP Clinical Center
  • Péter Csécsei, assistant professor at the UP Clinical Center
  • Dávid Ernszt, researcher at the UP Medical School
  • Diána Feller, postdoctoral fellow at the UP Medical School
  • Boróka Gács, postdoctoral fellow at the UP Medical School
  • Anita Illés, assistant professor at the UP Clinical Center
  • Emese Kátai, specialist candidate at the UP Clinical Center
  • Réka Kugyelka, postdoctoral fellow at the UP Medical School
  • Laura Petrovics, resident at the UP Clinical Center
  • Donát Péter Sarlós, specialist at the UP Clinical Center
  • Szabina Szujó, resident at the UP Clinical Center
